Frequently Asked Questions About Authoring
- How do I add a Plant?
- Click 'Add A Plant'.
- How much do I need to know about the plant?
- Not much. Just a common name is enough to start an article. The proper Latin name will make it show up on all the category pages. Just fill in whatever you know. Other public editors that come after you will add to and improve the article you've started. They can even rename it. Whatever you make will be found through search and show up on Google.

- Do I get credit?
- Yes. That's a little something different we've added to this wiki. You receive an Author Page when you 'Create An Account', and your name is listed at the bottom of each article you edit in thanks for your contribution. On your Author Page you can 'friend' or even 'foe' other authors to stay in touch.
- What if someone erases my work?
- This is a possibility. When you're done your edit, check the 'Watch This Page' box. If someone edits your work, you'll receive an e-mail. You can always 'Roll-Back' in the 'Edits History' to your version if it's better. This can get interesting if you are in competition with another author over a favourite plant!
- How do I know if the information on a plant page is correct?
- You don't! Not anymore than you would know that information by an author in a book is correct. Plant Encyclopedia authors can leave references and citations to help you trust their contributions. This model is the same as Wikipedia and has proven very trustworthy over time.
